Autism Event Staff

Jamie Grover
Autism Group Director
Alumni Cruises

Jamie currently works for the University Center for Developmental Disabilities at California State University – San Bernardino.  Jamie is the programs Project Coordinator and Editor of the centers quarterly publication “The UCDD Voice.”  Jamie has written and published many articles relating to the needs of children on the spectrum and their families.  Jamie is also a parent group counselor and teaches a variety of workshops including, positive parenting techniques, parent communication and wellness, and IEP planning & strategies, to name a few. 

Jamie served as the West Coast Representative for the North Star Foundation, an organization which pairs children with autism and other developmental disabilities to quality trained assistance dogs. Jamie is also a certified North Star dog trainer and was responsible for training and assisting with the placement of several assistance dogs over the last few years, including one with triplets who are all on the autism spectrum.

 

Dr. Dwight P. Sweeney, Ph.D.
Instructor/Session Program Manager

Dwight P. Sweeney, Ph.D., is currently Professor of Educational Psychology and Counseling and Director of the University Center for Developmental Disabilities at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). Dr. Sweeney has worked in the field of autism since 1971. He has directed or consulted with school and community-based behavioral programs in four states. Since joining the CSUSB faculty in 1989, Dr. Sweeney has directed the University Center for Developmental Disabilities that has provided supplemental behavioral interventions and parent training programs for over 600 children with autism and their families.


Dr. Sweeney earned his A.B. from the University of Notre Dame and his M.A and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. Prior to coming to CSUSB Dr. Sweeney served as Program Consultant in Aging and Disability at the UCLA Developmental Disabilities Training Program and was a Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Bio-Behavioral Science at the UCLA Neuro-Psychiatric Institute.

Mr. Sobbell has been in the cruise travel field for over 15 years.  He has cruised on many of Royal Caribbean’s ships, including all of the Voyager Class and Freedom Class ships and considers these ships his second home. Mr. Sobbell strives to personally attend every Cruise Event to ensure the cruise experience meets every passengers expectations, as he will on this Autism Family Cruise.
